Magnetic Viewing Film provides a simple means to show where the poles are located on permanent magnets and DC electromagnets. The film has tiny microcapsules containing nickel flakes suspended in oil. The nickel flakes align with the magnetic field lines and produce lighter and darker areas, showing up the invisible magnetic lines. The film can be reset with the stroke of a large magnet.
