This is a great lab demonstration as it involves readily available chemicals, two exothermic reactions and some nifty chemical equations. Guaranteed to produce the ooohs and aaahs from all students.

You prepare hydrogen gas in an empty wine bottle using chemicals and materials found around the house or supermarket. Balloons are filled with the gas and launched outside with messages attached.

Some balloons are launched with unique timer ice switches that carry gliders and release them at predetermined heights. If you want to, you can explode a balloon following our safety instructions.
Lots of fun for all but care is required in the use of the chemicals.
