Edutainment Science: The great engagement factor!
('Cause teaching science should be fun!)

Globally students show less interest in the physical sciences due to a lack of engagement, relevance and connection with their interests.  So this is the great challenge all science educators face!

In this PD Program, Carl Ahlers (MSc; BEd; HED) the founder of Prof Bunsen Science, author, ex-science teacher and science communicator for more than 20 years, will share his experiences and DIY teaching tools.

You'll see the things you have heard about but was never taught about at University!
And start some new excitement in your classes the next day.

The Chemistry session will cover simple, practical chemical activities and demonstrations that will engage and connect in the classroom! Guaranteed. 

Learn how to incorporate everyday items in your classroom and discover:

• turmeric powder's greatest secret,  
• how Cola-Mentos eruptions are related to heat packs, 
• why cotton wads and ping pong balls can go bang, 
• how to simulate a sugar dust 'explosion', 
• how to fly a Pringles can to the roof using kitchen prepared hydrogen,
• how to demonstrate accelerated corrosion in 5 minutes, 
• and much more

The Physics session will involve simple, practical acivities that will engage and inspire. 
Grab items found around the lab or at home and learn how to set-up and prepare:

• ketchup & sushi divers,  
• a magnetic accelerator or rail 'gun',  
• a really simple 3 part electrical motor in 30 seconds,  
• an electrostatic knocker, 
• a super sized spectrum on a white board; 
• a cheap laser DIY show,
• a simple ac / dc demonstrator,
• and much more

Both sessions will have lots of practical tips from Carl who focused on these activities for many years and has brought science excitement to hundreds of thousands of students in Africa & Australia.

Who should attend?   Anyone who would like to add PHIZZ to their classroom.
